I was born and raised in the most southern town in Canada, Kingsville, Ontario, which is located on the north shore of Lake Erie thirty-one miles south east of Detroit. I moved to the United States in 1985 to be closer to my fiancé and to resume my tax career in both public accounting and in the corporate tax world. I am a self-taught artist and started wood burning in early 2001. As a child I knew that I had some natural artistic abilities but being raised in a modest environment caused me to focus on a more conventional career in order to gain some level of financial security. In spring of 2004 I was able to focus more time on my artwork and established this site.

To date, the primary theme of my work has been wine related, more specifically, wood burning impressions of wine labels on the blank ends and sides of wooden wine cases. After having a wine cellar constructed in my current home I had the idea of putting a decorative border around the top of the cellar using the stamped ends of French wooden wine cases. As I was breaking the cases down I was lamenting the fact that most of my favorite California wineries did not store their wine in wooden wine cases. I then got the idea of using the wood burning set that I had as a child to create impressions of my favorite wine labels on the blank ends and sides of the wooden wine cases. I then finished the border using completed ends of French wine cases and my own artistic impressions of mainly California wine labels. I am an avid wine collector and this has been a way to express his passion for wine and wine collecting. Over time, it was the reactions of individuals who saw my art pieces while touring my cellar that caused me to consider turning my passion and hobby into a business venture.

In 2003 I contacted certain California wineries to ask for permission to create and sell wood burning impressions of their wine labels. Two wineries, Robert Mondavi and Silver Oak have given me written permission to do artistic wood burning impressions of their wine labels. Consequently, the majority of pieces available for sale at the launch of this website are from these two popular wineries. You will also see other subjects that I have been working with which I was commissioned to create or are topics that I have an interest in.

Enjoy some pieces I have expiremented with or have given to my family...
