H.M.S. Victory breaks the enemy line

As Victory passes the stern of the French Flagship Bucentaure she fires a 50 cannon broadside into the stern of the ship. It is estimated that 20 cannons are disabled and 400 men are killed or wounded. As the Redoutable approaches from the left, a sniper in the rigging mortally wounds Admiral Nelson. He is carried below and dies that night.
